When water floods into a building, it naturally flows to the lowest areas such as basements or elevator pits. The elevator pit then becomes a huge water reservoir. During typhoon season, flooding often causes severe damage elevators become submerged, and their shafts, cars, and components suffer from corrosion after exposure to water. Rust becomes a hidden safety hazard, and the cost of repairs or parts replacement is nearly equivalent to half the price of a new elevator. Even after repairs, it’s like a flooded car it can never be fully restored to its original condition, leaving passengers uneasy about riding in it.
In response to the increasing frequency of natural disasters, Sakura Elevator developed the Elevator Flood Rescue Device, which has obtained multiple international patents. It only needs to be installed in the elevator pit. When flooding occurs, the water sensor immediately detects the condition and sends an alert. The elevator then automatically ascends to an upper floor, allowing passengers to exit safely and preventing further use of the elevator. It can even remind residents to protect their belongings on lower floors. This system provides extra safety assurance and minimizes damage caused by flooding.
